Everyone Could Use a Little Staycation

Hi babes! It’s officially the summertime and the perfect time for a staycation. I recently stayed at the Hotel Indigo Atlanta Downtown for an overnight staycation and had the best time relaxing and just having a cozy night in.

The hotel was super cute and modern, which I loved. They have this huge acrylic-looking staircase in the middle of the lobby that I’m obsessed with. (It was under renovation BUT it’s the perfect place for your IG pics, let me tell ya.)

I love the idea of a staycation because 1) the travel time is way shorter (luckily for me, I only live six minutes away) 2) you save money – because you’re eliminating the travel part 3) you can still hit up your fave spots 4) there’s just something boujee about staying in a hotel when you live – like – minutes away. Fun, fun.

So Friday evening, we headed over to the hotel for a fun night, which we obviously started with a little champs!

We proceeded to the lobby bar for a drink before heading out to one of our fave restaurants for a casual dinner – Superica. Guys, if you haven’t been here, drop what you’re doing, order an O.G. marg and the barbacoa tacos and thank me later. Life-changing.

Again, it was only a short Uber ride away so that was lovely. After dinner, we headed back to the hotel like the grandparents we are to stay in and watch some TV.

The hotel room, like the rest of the hotel, was very chic, clean and modern. Lots of bright whites, clean lines and just an overall modern design that I was very into.

And the bed was SO comfy. I could’ve slept in forever on Saturday!

Saturday morning, we woke up and headed to JP Atlanta in their lobby for brunch. We ordered the JP Omelette and Blueberry French Toast – because you’ve obviously gotta have sweet & savory. Both dishes were really, really good and the coffee was a’flowin’.

After brunch, we packed up and headed home! Spending just one night away from home was such a nice treat and something I highly recommend as a fun girls night, date night, or even by yourself. I would SO do a solo staycation, book a spa appointment, order room service and champagne – YES.

I’m off to take a barre3 class and lay out by my pool while reading my new obsession You Are a Badass (SO good.) Happy Saturday, babes.

This post was in collaboration with Hotel Indigo Atlanta Downtown. A big thank you to the hotel for hosting me! All opinions are my own.

Holiday Gift Guide Under $50!

It’s the most wonderful tiiiime of the yearrr! (Yes, I sang that as I wrote it.) December is a time for spiked cider, cozy sweaters, pretty lights, Christmas cookies and, of course, presents! While I think we all know by this point that gifts are not the reason for the season, they’re still fun obviously. It’s funny, but I’ve honestly found over the years that I enjoy giving gifts more now than ever. Sure, we all like to get them too, but I usually kind of know what’s in the cards based on the annual Christmas list I send my mom. There’s really nothing like seeing the smile on a loved one’s face when they get something totally unexpected from you. It’s just an all-around, feel-good feeling.

A rule I tend to go by when gift giving is this: Buy them something they wouldn’t buy themselves. Are you really going to spend $35 on that candle from Anthro you’ve been eyeing or new workout clothes when you already have three perfectly decent pairs of leggings? Probably not. Your friends and family members are probably on that same wave length. So, with that being said, I’m really excited to share this holiday gift guide with you all! Everything is under $50, so you’ll give them something they’ll love without having to break into your beloved savings account. This one’s for the ladies, but maybe if you guys like it I’ll share some ideas for your boyf, dad or brother. Enjoy!

9 Ways to Make Your Day Healthier ASAP

Screen Shot 2015-10-23 at 11.04.45 AM

Happy Friday!!! For real, this week has draggggggged like no other… ready to get this pawty started. *new poppin’ champs emoji*

So I’ve gotta say, I’ve been lacking a little motivation on the health front lately. I absolutely go through phases where I’m super into it, and others where I just want to sleep an extra hour and have a bowl of ice cream (which I’m fine with because I’m all about balance). At times it can all feel a little overwhelming trying to do it all; early morning workouts, a million ounces of water a day, no carbs after 3pm… I’m getting stressed out already. I often have to remind myself, though, that if I’m not doing every single “healthy” thing I can, it doesn’t mean I’m failing. I think it’s about baby steps and just doing the best you can.

To help alleviate a little bit of that stress for those of us trying to be a little healthier today, leading into a (quite possibly) overindulgent weekend, I’ve put together a list of some of my favorite healthy tips you can implement right now to make up for all the vodka sodas you’re going to drink this weekend/Waffle House you’re going to gorge on… pick your poison ;)

  1. Switch out your romaine or iceberg lettuce in salads to dark leafy greens like arugula, spinach and kale.
  2. Swap your daily soda (yes, even diet) with a La Croix or other sparkling water.
  3. Instead of on a bun, order a burger wrapped in lettuce. You can still enjoy a juicy burger and cut your carbs!
  4. Never let your water bottle sit empty at your desk. Drink up!
  5. Potty break squats: Every time you get up to use the restroom, do 10! (If you’re following tip #4 then you’ll squeeze in a lot of these throughout the day…)
  6. Make homemade salad dressings and marinades instead of the store-bought versions, which often have way too many ingredients in them. I like using a combo of apple cider vinegar, honey or agave, olive oil, sea salt and other seasonings, depending on the flavor I want.
  7. Instead of calorie-packed creamers and artificial sweeteners, use unsweetened vanilla almond milk and cinnamon in your coffee (more on why you should drink cinnamon in your coffee)
  8. Eat your “carbier” meals earlier in the day and load up on proteins and veggies for dinner.
  9. If you’re craving sweets, try fulfilling your craving with one square of dark chocolate. If your craving is still there (which it probably won’t be), just eat the damn brownie – ONE, not three.

Hopefully these little tips help you to have a healthier day! Pick a few to try right now so you can go into the weekend feelin’ goood. TGIF :)
